We recently wrapped up an intensive, multi-phase Creative job-seeker programme on behalf of the BBC in Salford & the North West, and in collaboration with partners including Connect Talent CIO, and the University of Manchester (Creative MCR).
This project was specifically designed to connect, upskill, and bridge the gap for work-ready, diverse professionals and individuals from disadvantaged communities across the region.
True to our delivery ethos, we created active, human-centred spaces built to demystify the creative sector’s hidden job market and translate raw talent into commercial value.
What the Project Delivered
The initiative provided a practical, step-by-step roadmap to help our cohort navigate high-level creative applications and build authentic industry relationships:
Insider Recruitment Masterclass: by Mel Adams (Talent Acquisition Lead at the BBC), the cohort received direct insight into the BBC’s exact hiring processes, value frameworks, and competency scoring systems.
The Creative CV Glow-Up: Partnering with Dr. Miri Firth (University of Manchester), we ran practical sessions utilising the CAR (Context, Action, Result) framework. Attendees learned how to stop writing generic lists of duties and start showcasing measurable creative impact.
Navigating the Hidden Job Market: BFN Director Isa Wurie led deep-dives into digital and real-world networking, including how to get into talent pools for niche roles, and how to understand and confidently communicate their unique value.
Exclusive BBC Networking: The programme culminated in an in-person, evening networking event at BBC Dock House, where promising diverse creatives stepped directly into huddles with senior BBC stakeholders to discuss immediate-impact roles, from Content Producers to Journalists.
Take the Next Step in Your Journey

If you are a creative, a career-starter, or an ambitious professional looking for the tools, strategies, and culture-centred backing to level up, don't navigate the market alone.
