Thursday 18th June 2026, 7-8pm online.
A supportive group space for The Black Futures Network community members navigating job search, redundancy and career change with therapeutic writing.
Searching for a job, whether you're starting your career, or trying to rebuild after redundancy can feel lonely, overwhelming and emotionally draining, especially when you feel pressure to “bounce back” or "succeed" quickly.
If you've been telling yourself to “just keep going” while silently struggling, this is your reminder that you don't have to navigate this season alone.
The Black Futures Network has launched a job search support group for African heritage professionals and career starters who want a place to pause, breathe, and be around people who genuinely understand the weight of this season. Whether you're:
Feeling pressure to find work quickly
Burnt out and unsure what direction to take next
Struggling to regain confidence after redundancy
Feeling stuck finishing projects or making career decisions
Tired of carrying the stress alone
Looking for community without judgement or toxic positivity
This space is for you, and you're more than welcome.
Through therapeutic writing, guided reflection and honest conversation, this group support session is designed to help you reconnect with yourself, feel emotionally supported and leave feeling stronger in community.
What we want this group support to give you:
A safe space to express yourself openly
Relief from carrying everything on your own
Encouragement from people who genuinely understand
Greater emotional clarity and self-confidence
A sense of connection, grounding and hope
Space to reconnect with yourself beyond work and job titles
To help create a safe and supportive space, we expect you to:
Protect confidentiality - What is shared in the room stays in the room.
Commit to the space - Arrive on time and be fully present for yourself and the group.
Build trust together - We listen with empathy, respect different experiences and avoid judgement or unsolicited advice.
The session will be facilitated by Nabil Verdickt, an experienced group facilitator with a background in group dynamics, systemic coaching, conflict resolution and therapeutic writing practices, creating a space that is thoughtful, supportive and community-centred.
Join the session and give yourself the support, community and space you deserve.
